PRESENTATION

#VIVEFLAMENCOMADRID

The birth of any project always entails great uncertainties; it is a challenge and, at the same time, a great opportunity—especially so when it is an artistic project rooted in our most recognizable art form.

FLAMENCO MADRID BIENNIAL is born out of admiration and as a tribute to flamenco in a Madrid that stands as a guarantor of this art form and is constantly nurturing it. It is for this reason that flamenco has shown its gratitude through remarkable artistic moments that have either taken shape or taken place in our city, establishing it as one of the key hubs for the global projection of flamenco.

The BIENNIAL’s main aim is to serve creators and performers, and to cherish and carefully curate artistic proposals both for flamenco enthusiasts and for those who are yet to fall in love with this art. It is a project that unites territories and builds bridges beyond our borders, contributing to the shaping of a contemporary Madrid that honors its traditions and knows how to blend them with other art forms—ultimately allowing their evolution to inspire us and help us grow as a society.

Art, harmony, territory, and citizenship are the four pillars that uphold and guide us in the creation and launch of this first edition, and they will surely continue to provide us with perspective, ambition and commitment in future editions.

For all these reasons, we can say that we are born in an embrace—an embrace that strengthens our goals from within, helping us to reinforce a sector that requires the unconditional support of institutions to spread the universal message of artistic creation. When art thrives, so too does our society. For this reason, and through these lines, I wish a long and prosperous life to the FLAMENCO MADRID BIENNIAL
