On May 23, the Madrid Flamenco Biennial will welcome with a grand opening gala that will feature the art of Jerez de la Frontera. Under the musical direction of Juan Parrilla, Madrid will for the first time bring the authentic Jerez essence to one of its stages with its emblematic Bulería Festival.
With Jesús Méndez and aunt Juana la del Pipa leading the lineup, a cast of about fifteen artists will bring to the capital the art and knowledge of Santiago and La Plazuela, two of the most emblematic neighborhoods of the city of Jerez.
An exceptional master of ceremonies, Tomasito, will take command of the Price’s arena, guiding the audience through this extraordinary experience of legitimate Jerez art that will give voice to the different generations that comprise it today.
New talent such as Manuel de la Nina, El Chanquita, or Pirulo, as well as established names such as Jesús Méndez or Pepe del Morao, representative of one of the essential sagas for understanding Jerez guitar, will step onto the Price’s arena, along with a body of voices and palmas that, under the direction of Juan Parrilla, will bring us the natural art of Jerez with its Bulería Festival, a reference in the flamenco world since 1967, which will visit Madrid for the first time in its history within the framework of this first edition of the Biennial.
