bailArte Madrid is the commission that Madrid Flamenco Biennial makes to Madrid photographer Javier Enrique Fernández, highlighting what are already two essential passions for the creator and which in turn are the guiding principles of this Biennial: flamenco and the city of Madrid.
The images of Javier Enrique Fernández capture the essence of the capital, ranging from the most monumental and recognizable Madrid to the most everyday and traditional aspects, placing them at the service of his particular artistic vision deeply rooted in the power of flamenco.
bailArte Madrid is composed of the souls of 40 flamenco dance artists from different generations who offer us a perfect marriage between the city and its art. Essential names of grand flamenco dancing such as Blanca del Rey, Alfonso Losa, Olga Pericet, Belén López, La Lupi, or Manuel Liñán put their movements at the service of the author’s lens to create an eclectic and powerful artistic universe.
Flamenco culture from the perceptive perspective of Madrid-born Javier Enrique Fernández, portraits and perspectives imbued with the deep love he feels for this city and all its corners, as well as for flamenco art and its artists.
The exhibition bailArte Madrid consists of 40 photographs that capture the movement of 40 male and female flamenco dancers in different heritage and urban settings of the capital and will remain open to the public from May 23 to June 08.
